Collection: Encaustic Paintings

Encaustic paintings will be offered on a limited basis

Encaustic is a medium that relies more on temperature than wetness. As an artist I'm working with hot and cold, instead of wet and dry.

I can carve into the wax, or build up knobby layers. I can layer-on and burn-off shellac for a lacy effect, or smear the surface with a lipstick-like pigment stick. My favorite thing about the medium is the freedom to play with tactile texture and not just color.
